Once upon a time, hiring a wedding planner was a luxury reserved for the wealthy. Oh my, times have changed!! Most brides have full time jobs or are full time students and often Mom has a busy career of her own. Many brides do not live in their hometown where they would know just who to call for such an important occasion.

Hiring a professional to help you plan your wedding just makes good sense. You hire a professional to cut your hair, do your nails or fix your car, so why would you consider handling every detail of one of the most important social events you will ever host all by yourself.Copy of pamela sig

This post has nothing to do with weddings or brides but it has everything to do with women. Yesterday I had the honor and privilege to speak at the Houston Go Red Luncheon at the Hotel Intercontinental. What a beautiful sight!!!, I looked out from the podium to a sea of red and beautiful faces. Women of all ages and sizes who care about themselves and the women in their life enough to participate in this important fund raising affair.

I was asked to speak yesterday because my family has been directly affected by research done right here in Houston and that can be funded by monies from the American Heart Assocation. My younger son Drew was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy five years ago and as a life saving measure he had a LVAD implanted. This medical device was developed here in Houston.

The day was made all the more special because my handsome now healthy son was my escort to this luncheon and stood beside me as I spoke. Channel 13’s lovely Gina Gaston was the MC for this event and the keynote speaker was Rita Moreno. What a lovely lady she is and what an impressive career. She has won an Emmy, an Oscar,a Tony and a Grammy( the only person to have done so).
